About Judy Mick, The Streaking Runner

WelcomeJudy Mick

Welcome to the Streaking Runner!  My name is Judy Mick and I am totally passionate about running – and helping other to start running and keep running for life!

I started running in 1978 while I was in college to get rid of those pounds that everyone seems to put on their first couple of years.  My roomie also wanted to start running to try to catch the eye of a member of the cross country team.  It turned out to be a win-win situation.  I’m still running and she married the runner!

Running has been such an important part of my life ever since.  It has kept me healthy and sane through whatever life has tried to throw at me!  That’s one of the reasons that I started this blog.  I want everyone to be able to enjoy the healthy lifestyle that running gives you!

I’m in the process of getting my certification from Road Runners Club of America to become a certified running coach.  I am committed to help runners of all abilities to achieve whatever they wish with their running.

Why Am I The Streaking Runner?

I am known as The Streaking Runner due to the fact that I am a streaker.  Not the way that you may think! What this means is that I have not missed a day of running since 1985!   This gives me some stories and tips that I can share with everyone on listening to their bodies and keep running for a long, long time.

What You’ll Find Here In The Streaking Runner

In this blog, I want to share different things that will help runners of all abilities.

  • There will be stories and tips that I’ve learned along the way in my running.
  • Sharing of articles that I’ve written on different running topics – from injury prevention to nutrition to training for different distances.
  • What I may be going through with my running and training currently.
  • There will be reviews of products that I use and love!  I won’t recommend something that I’ve never tried myself.
  • And, most of all – I hope to keep everyone motivated and inspired to lace up those shoes daily and head out the door for their runs!

My Wonderful Support System

It’s hard to be a runner – and especially a streaking runner – without the support of a great husband.  And, I’ve got a definite winner!  My wonderful hubby, Bob, and I have been married for over 31 years.

He is always supportive in the fact that I’m going to get my run in – no matter what.  Bob’s heard the alarm go off at 4:00 a.m. before we have to head out of town.  He knows that I’m going to get a run in every morning when we are out of town.  He supports my out of town races – and is always right there with my “stuff” at the finish line!

I don’t know if I could have done it all without him!

So, that’s a little bit about me!  I really hope that you enjoy it here – and will come back often!

  1. Hi! I’m Liz Vassey. I’ve been an actor for 30 years (CSI, ER, THE TICK, TWO AND A HALF MEN). I’m also a writer and I’m also an avid runner.I am in the process of raising funds to make a documentary about runners over 50. I have a pledge from the St. Pete Film Commission and have just started an IndieGoGo page to crowdfund the rest.

The idea came to me because running is my sanity. I wondered if I’d ever have to give it up and, after doing some research, I found out there are people running marathons in their 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and even 90’s. I want to make a documentary about five of them and, in the process, crush stereotypes about aging and show these people in the badass light they deserve.

I was hoping maybe your site could do a story on my project. Or I could interview you in the doc once it’s funded. I think this is an incredibly inspiring topic and I’d love to get the word out far and wide — and I’d love to have you involved in any way you see fit. you are INCREDIBLE.

Thank you for your time and please let me know if you can help!

  2. Hi Liz,

Thanks so much for reaching out to me! I’m so sorry to be so long in getting back with you – this just now popped up.

I’d love to help you in any way that I can. I did see the shorter trailer – and look forward to seeing the longer one. I think that it is great that you are doing this! As I’m creeping up on 60 (I’ll be 59 in April), I have no plans to stop running. And, my streak is over 31 years!

I can do a blog post regarding your documentary – or if you would like to write something up and I’ll use it as a guest post. I’d be honored to have you!

    Thanks again!

P.S. I definitely remember you from CSI!
