A Month In The Life Of A Streaking Runner – Day 6

Fallon ParkFriday, October 6 – 12 miles

Today was long run day!  I started doing my long runs a while back on Fridays.  It really seems to work for me.  I like that it gets my weekend started right and on Thursdays I can fix a nice pasta dinner for Hubby and me.

For the past year or so, I’ve been doing my long runs on some of the greenways around here.  I sometimes start and finish on the greenway – but, may hit the road for some miles.  It all depends on the miles that I am doing.

The greenway that I start my longer runs on starts at a place called Fallon Park.  There are runners and cyclists that start there.  I like starting there because there is a port-a-potty right there.  On the greenway, there are a couple – but, I like having one right there before I get started. Well, I don’t know whose bright idea it was to get rid of it – but, today it was gone.  My bladder was upset!  It had to go a mile or so before it could be relieved and ready to be happy with the run.  I really hope it comes back.  Oh, the woes of a runner.  :-)  (See that big tree in the background – that’s where it used to be!)

Other than that the run today went great.  I had a few spells where the legs felt a little draggy – but, overall it was great!  And, my last mile (#12) was my fastest one!  Love it when that happens!

The run itself was pretty uneventful.  I veered off for a few miles to explore a new part that I had not been on before.  It just wandered through some neighborhoods and then ended back up on the main greenway.

It was a perfect morning for a longer run.  50 degrees at the start and sunny.  I’m cold natured – but, a tank and shorts was perfect!

I love my longer runs.  I’m slower than I used to be years ago – but, running long still makes me very happy!

See ya tomorrow!

  1. That’s very cool! I love running too. But I’m usually a fair weather runner – in pretty warm weather.
Love to read about running. How long have you been doing it and do you run every day?

    • Yes, Amy, I do run every day. I have not missed a day since 1985. I started running in 1978 while I was in college to try to get rid of some weight and just stuck with it! I am definitely a lover of warmer weather!
