I Broke All My Rules – And, Had A Great Week Of Running

Last week was a good week of running for me.  I hit 50 miles a week in training.  I used to hit this and more consistently – but, for the last 5 or 6 years – I haven’t been able to.  Sometimes life – personal obligations and work – just seem to get in the way of mileage sometimes.  I hate that it does – but, it’s the truth.  Now, I’m still going to get my runs in every day no matter what. I may have to cut back a few miles from time to time – but, the run is going to happen. Now, that I’ve hit the magic 50 again – I know that I’ll be able to keep at it. Staying A Runner For Life – There’s More To Do As You Get Older!

Being a runner for life!  It’s something that I want to do – and I want to help others to do.  But, as I get older – I realize that you have to work at it just a little harder. Now, I admit, for most of my running life (since 1978) all I did was run.  I always did some upper body weight work – but if I didn’t do it for a few months, it wasn’t a big deal. Then, came 2013.  What I call my year of injuries!  It seemed like there was one thing after another.  It started in January with Plantar Fasciitis then to some knee pain, then to some periformis trouble to some butt pain, etc.  Nothing that caused me not to run – but enough to be annoying and to cut back on mileage.
