Ramblings On Another Streak Anniversary

Today is November 21st, the day after my Streak Anniversary!  Yesterday, I celebrated 31 years of running without missing a day.  The Streak Registry (yes, there is one – and I’m number 58 on the all time list) showed me as reaching this milestone on Friday – I guess due to extra days for leap year over all this time.  But, since I started my streak on November 20th, that’s the day that I always celebrate. So many people are flabbergasted when they hear that I’ve run that long without missing a day. It just doesn’t seem like that big a deal to me.  Now, don’t get me wrong – I am super proud of my streak.  And, I think that my Hubby is prouder.  He is always telling someone about it. The reason that I say it doesn’t seem like a big deal is that running is just something … {Continue Reading… }

Today – It’s All About Me!

OK, as Narcissistic as that sounds – today it’s true!  I’m all about helping other runners to stay motivated – but today is a special day for me!  It’s my Streak Anniversary!  Today, I’ve been running 28 years without missing a day! It’s really hard for me to believe that it’s been that many years since I’ve not run.  There are days when it seems like just yesterday when I started my streak – and then there are days when it seems like forever!   This year has been one of the hardest for me.  I’ll admit (don’t hate me for this) – but I’ve gone all this years without a serious injury.  Just a little glitch here or there along the way.  Since January, it seems like it’s been one thing after another.  Plantar Fasciitis, Periformis, and now a little ankle thing is going on. But, I keep stretching … {Continue Reading… }

Running Streaks – Being A Streaker Isn’t Always Easy!

I’ve had my running since 1985.  I’ve run through heat and humidity, snow and ice, hurricanes, etc. Most days it’s easy to be a streaker.  I get up, lace up the shoes and head out the door. But, then, there are a few days that are challenging.  Throughout my streak – I’ve been pretty lucky.  I really can count on one had the days that I really wondered if the streak was going to end.  If you don’t mind, I’d like to share those with you. The first time that I can remember wondering about running was in 1996 or 1997 when I came down with the shingles.  Now, mine was a pretty nasty case.  But, I made myself go downstairs to my treadmill and run a mile.  The first couple of days – it was definitely not easy.  However, I was pretty much over them in a week – … {Continue Reading… }

Do You Have An Inner Streaker In You?

I know that I’m going to get criticized for this post – but I’m going to do it anyway.  And, you know that I don’t mean running without clothes.  I mean have a running streak where you don’t miss a day during a certain period of time.  You may have a streaking runner in you! Now, I’m not going to say that you should go out and have a streak for many years – I’m aware that I’m a freak of nature!  But, I am going to say that you may have an inner streaker in you – even if it’s only for a week or a month.  It may be something that you want to try! Having a running streak is a great motivator.  There may be days where you just don’t go out for your run for one reason or another – and usually these are rather weak … {Continue Reading… }

I’ve Run Around World 1 1/2 Times!

The other day I was putting my running mileage for the day in my log.  And, I got to thinking.   It’s been quite a while since I had counted up the consecutive days of my running streak.  I used to do it periodically and have it in my logs.  But after so long, I just stopped doing it. So, I went back and added it up.  I figured up which years were leap years so I could add in the extra day.  And, then counted the years and the partial years of the when I started the streak and this year.   As of June 25, the total number of days
